After the Earth was ravaged by mysterious alien lifeforms called Gauna, humanity's remnants fled into space aboard the colossal generation ship Sidonia. For centuries, Sidonia drifted through the cosmos, only to be confronted with a renewed Gauna threat. A narrow victory against the Gauna, achieved through the combined efforts of the human-Gauna hybrid Tsumugi Shiraui and the skilled Guardian mech pilot Nagate Tanikaze, offered humanity a fleeting reprieve.
