Voltron: Defender of the Universe is an American animated television series that combines elements from two Japanese series: Beast King GoLion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV. The show follows a group of five pilots who unite to form the powerful robot Voltron to protect the universe from evil. The series ran for 124 episodes in the 1980s and was later followed by a CGI-animated sequel, Voltron: The Third Dimension, which aired in the late 1990s.
