Sewashi Nobi, a little kid, sends Doraemon back in time to help his grandfather Nobita's situation so that Nobita's offspring will have a brighter future. In the original timeline, Nobita's entire life was filled with sadness and tragedy, which took the form of poor grades and bullying. This results in the burning down of a future firm he establishes, leaving his family line in debt. Sewashi intended to send a super-robot to guard Nobita in order to change history and improve the fortunes of the Nobi family, but with his poor budget he could only acquire an anthropomorphic robot cat named Doraemon that was a manufacturing reject toy.
