NANA
When they both travel to Tokyo after turning 20 on March 5, 2001, Nana Osaki and Nana Komatsu (also known as Hachi)[a] cross paths: Nana O. to pursue a professional music career with her band, Black Stones, on her own merit; and Nana K. to join her friends and move in with her lover. Despite having distinct personalities and goals, the two ladies discover they have something in common and, by chance, decide to share an apartment. But as they pursue their goals, problems with fame and love start to put their friendship to the test. While Nana O. reunites with her ex-lover Ren, the guitarist of Japan's current number-one band Trapnest, Nana K. breaks up with her partner after discovering that he cheated on her. Nana K. later develops an ad hoc romance with Trapnest's bassist Takumi as a result of Nana O. and Ren's relationship, making her friendship with Nana O. unpleasant while simultaneously falling in love with Black Stones guitarist Nobu. Ultimately, Nana K. decides to wed Takumi after finding out she's pregnant. At the prospect of losing Nana K., Nana O. begins to experience panic attacks, but she later decides to use the fame and success of Black Stones to lure Nana K. away from Trapnest.
