Please! Teacher

The main characters of Please Teacher! are a close-knit group of high school pals who deal with a number of life-altering situations that are never too far off from intimate connections. Kei Kusanagi, the protagonist of the story, has a highly unusual ailment that causes him to go into a "standstill" anytime he experiences intense emotional distress. Before the story started, Kei, then 15 years old, had experienced a "standstill" that lasted three years after seeing his older sister commit suicide. After getting better, he surreptitiously relocated away from home to avoid encountering any social awkwardness as a result of his protracted absence and started residing with his uncle, a physician, and aunt. Kei wanted to keep the circumstances from his new friends due to the peculiar nature of how he got to reside there for fear of being shunned as being too old to hang out with them. A Galactic Federation spacecraft had entered Earth's atmosphere covertly, approached Honsh Island, and made a covert landing in Lake Kizaki after Kei had become accustomed to his new circumstances and had formed a close group of friends who supported one another.
