Two interstellar states have fought for dominance of the Milky Way for more than 150 years. The Galactic Empire, a totalitarian monarchy headed by Kaiser Friedrich IV and a powerful aristocracy, aims to crush any rebels who might challenge the untouchable throne. The representative democracy known as the Free Planets Alliance, which is governed by a dishonest High Council, degenerates as a result of the elected officials' exploitation of violence and conflict to win over the public.
