While most of the premise is covered by the anime adaptation, it notices modifications in the majority of the manga's story. These offer extra plotlines and characters that weren't in the original story. Additionally, some scenes and significant events are changed or moved up in time. As opposed to Tia as it does in the manga, Zatch and Kiyo instead learn about Zeno from another Mamodo they come across, however Tia and Megumi eventually confirm the sighting. Ponygon also shows up sooner in the timeline of the anime than it does in the book. Plot twists become more obvious throughout the third and final season's pivotal battle against Faudo. In particular, Kiyo's passing is avoided, and even after returning to the Mamodo world, Zeno never feels regret. Some Mamodo who lose out in the manga are still alive because of the adjustments. The demise of the majority of Zatch's key supporters and any remaining Mamodo is left unanswered, and the anime ignores the events involving Clear Note. Instead, the series ends with an epilogue that depicts Zatch and Brago getting ready to duel as the two last Mamodo, with the victor remaining a mystery.
