Hikaru Hoshina is a passionate middle schooler who enjoys space exploration and occult subjects. A tiny, fluffy creature comes out of her notebook as she doodles constellations in it! She calls it Fuwa, and it turns out to be an alien with the power to open warp holes. Lala Hagoromo and Prunce, two aliens that travel with Fuwa, declare that they are looking for the Precure, fabled warriors who will save the universe, when they arrive on Earth. However, a group known as the Notraiders shortly after follows and launches an attack with the aim of capturing Fuwa and its might. Hikaru finds herself changing into "Cure Star," one of the Precure that Lala and the others have been looking for, out of a desire to protect Fuwa. Hikaru and the others must now fend off the Notraiders' assault, find the last Precure, and locate the Star Color Pens, objects that will awaken the 12 Star Princess who maintain the balance of the universe.
