A Troll in Central Park
Stanley is a troll with a magical green thumb who can make plants and flowers come to life with only a touch. This is against the law in the Kingdom of Trolls, where he hails from. As soon as the other trolls catch him doing it, they seize him and bring him before Gnorga, the troll queen, who declares that Stanley "gives a bad name to trolls everywhere" and orders that he be turned to stone with her dark thumb (which glows purple). Instead, Queen Gnorga banishes Stanley to Central Park in New York City at the request of her consort King Llort, who is frequently bitten by his wife's dog. Following a sequence of misfortunes, Stanley eventually finds himself in a cave beneath the bridge. Two small children named Gus and Rosie discover the following day in a Manhattan apartment that they will not be escorted to Central Park because their mother Hillary must attend the open house on Park Avenue and their father Alan must appear in court for a significant case. Gus takes Rosie to the park by himself while the children are left with their nanny Maria. Rosie chases a butterfly to the bridge while playing with Gus' toy boat by the river, where she misidentifies Stanley as her own troll doll. She follows Stanley inside the cave after realizing he is a true troll and makes friends with him.
