Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark

In 2199 AD, the spaceship Yamato attempts to depart the Large Magellanic Cloud after acquiring the "Cosmo Reverse System" at its destination, Iscandar. However, it encounters a mysterious group known as "Gatlantis," led by the commander Goran Dagaamu of Thunder, who demands the Yamato be surrendered. Eager to return to Earth, the crew attempts to escape but is struck by a powerful beam weapon called the "Flame Direct Attack Cannon," which transcends space. Although the Yamato manages to retreat, it becomes lost in a bizarrely colored irregular dimension. The crew decides to power down the ship's engines and explore a nearby mysterious planet. Kodai, Kiryū, Sawamura, Niimi, and Aihara land to gather information, only to discover a ship that shouldn't be there. Meanwhile, Dagaamu follows the traces of Yamato's warp and also arrives in the unusual space. The planet where Yamato has landed turns out to be the very location Dagaamu has been seeking, setting the stage for an intense confrontation.
