Avenger

The story takes place on a colonized Mars in the future. Most people live in a few tiny domed city-states that make up the majority of the human race. The term "Barbaroi" refers to people who live outside of domes in the planet's brutal wildernesses. Resources are limited, and the distribution of resources among the towns is determined by the results of gladiatorial combat between warriors who represent each city. The colonists' troubles are made worse by the fact that there haven't been any births on Mars in ten years. Unknown factors may be contributing to infertility, but as a result, people have started replacing the absence of a children in their life with doll robots. And a red moon, which is Earth's moon, hangs over Mars. It was drawn to Mars after Earth was destroyed, and lunar storms caused by gravitational changes between Mars and its unwanted satellite are destroying it. Layla, a barbaroi gladiator with a mysterious history, serves as the focus of the narrative, which centers on her fight against Volk, the king of Mars. Nei, an odd "doll," and Speedy, a doll breeder, travel with her on her quest (or repairman).
