Karas

Ibira first thought of Karas as a vengeance-themed horror fiction. Its straightforward plot was reminiscent of the Dororo manga. Karas, the main character, is on a mission to kill Mikuras in order to retrieve his lover's dismembered body parts. He puts the pieces together to make a katana to slay the mikuras until he can get all of them back. The original plan for Karas called for three main characters in the style of the Japanese historical drama Sanbiki ga Kiru!; however, the final version was more of a superhero action story. The main protagonists were Otoha, Nue, and the human detective Kure, but Otoha received most of the attention in the finished product. In comparison to other anime, Karas is presented differently in a number of ways. The program maintains a somber tone and abstains from humor, over-the-top facial expressions, and characters with extreme physical deformities. Heavy expositions are avoided. Short dialogue is typical, and viewers must interpret what is happening from the few information that is provided.
