Saber Marionette J
In the made-up city state of Japoness, 18-year-old day laborer Otaru Mamiya lives alone. As a fish vendor running a morning's catch, he is struck by Mitsurugi Hanagata's automobile, an acquaintance, who damages his goods and starts a fight that the two decide to continue elsewhere. The boys resume their argument on a bridge after traveling to a gully outside of the town, where a skilled Otaru dispatches his foe with ease. Unfortunately, Otaru ends up falling into the river below while balancing on a fence post that breaks off, where he is helplessly carried away. Otaru arrives at the Japanese Pioneer Museum, a rural athenaeum, shortly after drifting ashore in a tiny pond. He curiously investigates the dilapidated structure, tripping over a trapdoor and entering a hidden basement where he discovers and frees an imprisoned marionette. She hugs the bewildered boy and introduces herself as Lime, displaying an unheard-of capacity for emotion expression.
