The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Most individuals, like ordinary high school student Kyon, would answer they do not believe in aliens, time travelers, or possibly espers if a survey were to ask this question. On the other hand, he meets a girl on his first day of school who quickly turns his world upside down. The stunning Haruhi Suzumiya brazenly declares during class introductions that she is bored with "regular" people and wants to encounter supernatural entities. Confounded, Kyon discovers her dissatisfaction with their school's dearth of paranormal-focused groups and unknowingly serves as the inspiration for her to create her own club. She establishes the SOS Brigade, also known as the Haruhi Suzumiya Brigade for Spreading Fun All Over the World. After the SOS Brigade is established, Haruhi is able to enlist Kyon as well as three additional members: shy upperclassman Mikuru Asahina, quiet bookworm Yuki Nagato, and unfailingly upbeat Itsuki Koizumi. Despite having a regular appearance, the new SOS Brigade members each have their unique mysteries about Haruhi. Kyon is taken away on a series of escapades by Haruhi and the SOS Brigade after becoming entangled in the mystery surrounding the eccentric club leader. Each one brings him closer to the reality of who and what she is.
