Danganronpa 3: The End of Kibougamine Gakuen - Zetsubou-hen
espair opens with homeroom teacher Chisa Yukizome starting her position instructing Hope's Peak Academy's 77th Class of Super High School Level pupils, who stand out as outstanding in various ways. espair takes place before the events of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. She is doing this to assist her old pals Kyosuke Munakata and Juzo Sakakura in bettering the place. Hajime Hinata, a student in the Reserve Course at the school for individuals without talent, is getting ready to participate in an experiment that would turn him into the Ultimate Hope. Despite his friendship with Chiaki Nanami, a gifted student, he has a lack of talent inferiority problem. Chisa asks Juzo for a trustee's ID after spending six months instructing the Reserve Course in order to look into the Kamukura Project. The terrorist Junko Enoshima and her sister Mukuro Ikusaba meet the now-amnesic Hinata, now known as Izuru Kamukura, and develop feelings for him. By threatening to confess his crush on Kyosuke, Junko blackmails Juzo. By convincing Kyosuke that Junko is innocent, Juzo and the deluded Chisa enable Junko to carry out her plan freely. Junko kills Chiaki while brainwashing Chisa's students, the 77th Class grads, using Izuru as bait. By showing a movie about Chiaki's death that was edited by Ryota Mitarai and contains subliminal messages, the brainwashing is carried out. While everything is going on, Hajime makes the decision to have his memories of the 77th Class erased because he wants to see if hope is capable of being more unpredictable than sorrow. Jin assists the remaining 78th Class students in converting the old school building into a refuge so they will be safe, not realizing there are two Despairs among them. Chisa rejoins Kyosuke, who is unaware that Chisa has been indoctrinated, as Junko moves on to the next stage of her scheme and becomes intrigued by the young student Makoto Naegi's wildly unpredictable luck. A while later, Izuru discovers himself conversing with Chiaki in a virtual environment as his Hajime avatar.
