A strange nemesis known only as "sirens" had taken control of the oceans. In order to fight the sirens and reclaim control of the waters, humans then developed humanoid female representations of actual battleships. Unfortunately, many human-like emotions were transmitted to these battleships, causing a division amongst these former allies. These two organizations split up into opposing factions known as Azur Lane and the Red Axis, and they are now in a war. The Red Axis, which consists of warships from nations such as Nazi Germany (Ironblood) and Imperial Japan (Sakura Empire), has entered the battle between good and evil sirens by using advanced siren technology to gain abilities beyond their natural ones. Azur Lane, comprised of warships from the Royal Navy and the United States (Eagle Union), continues to battle for the wellbeing of the people and maintains that the sirens must also be stopped in order to stop the Red Axis counterparts' abnormal evolution.
