When Kasumi Toyama was a young girl, she enjoyed the starry night sky while camping and heard the beat of the "Star Beat." She has never stopped trying to recapture that exciting thrill since that glittering, heart-pounding sound left a steadying influence on her. Now that Kasumi has started attending Hanasakigawa Girls' High School, she is more determined than ever to rediscover that long-lost feeling. She tries her hand at numerous school clubs and even thinks about getting a part-time job, but none of these feel right for her. That is, until she stumbles upon a star-shaped guitar in a disused pawn shop's storage area. It leads her to a live venue, where she is fascinated by her first experience seeing a live performance. She makes the decision to start a band right away, spurred by the adrenaline, without even knowing why. As she pursues that glittering, heart-throbbing ardor once more, she must overcome a number of obstacles with the help of new companions she finds along the way.
