This is the tale told in the Chain Chronicle, a book that details everything that has ever taken place in the entire world. Once upon a time, the inhabitants of the isolated continent of Yggd believed that nothing existed outside of their world. The continent was split up into a number of different regions, and each of those regions had its own ruler. Even if there were occasional minor clashes among them, a lord selected by the kings in council always kept things in check until the wicked Black Army showed up. The Black Army was a match for the Volunteer Army, led by Yuri. The capital as well as part of the Chain Chronicle are taken prisoner by the Lord of Black during the battle.
