The majority of the series takes place at Tokyo, Japan's prestigious Ttsuki Culinary Academy (Ttsuki Sary Ryri Gakuen), where a selected group of students graduate each year. The majority of its students attend Totsuki's junior high school, but transfers are accepted if applicants pass the entrance exam. The campus is a sprawling resort with a large competition arena, numerous research groups (clubs), and cookery classes. The Polaris Dormitory, where applicants must impress the dorm matron with a meal in order to be accepted, offers the most cheapest housing. The largest resort hotel operated by Gin Dojima, which is visited by Soma during her first year at Ttsuki, is part of the Ttsuki group.
