Two interstellar states have fought for dominance of the Milky Way for more than 150 years. The Galactic Empire, a totalitarian monarchy headed by Kaiser Friedrich IV and a powerful aristocracy, aims to crush any rebels who might challenge the untouchable throne. The representative democracy known as the Free Planets Alliance, which is governed by a dishonest High Council, degenerates as a result of the elected officials' exploitation of violence and conflict to win over the public. But the arrival of two competing military geniuses puts an end to this protracted standoff between the Empire and the Alliance.
