Yuya Sakaki, a second-year middle school student at Paradise City's You Show Duel School, wants to become a professional dueltainer. Declan Akaba, the head of the Leo Corporation, was interested when Yuya discovered a new ability called Pendulum Summoning. Yuto, the calm Xyz duelist he unknowingly absorbed, Yugo, the overconfident Synchro duelist, and Yuri, the sadistic Fusion duelist, are three Duelists who Yuya later encounters and who remarkably resemble him. As Yuya and his pals find themselves in the center of an interdimensional struggle against the Duel Academy that Yuri attends, these look-alikes come from dimensions other than Yuya's Standard Dimension. Leo Akaba, Declan's estranged father, is the head of Duel Academy, which aims to bring the four dimensions together. Declan organized the Lancers, a team of skilled duelists, to battle his father while they traveled to the Synchro and Xyz Dimensions.
