Free!: Dive to the Future

The setting of Free is the Japanese village of Iwatobi, which is modeled by Iwami, Tottori. Haruka Nanase, a talented swimmer in high school, is the protagonist of the tale. He and his pals revive the swim team at Iwatobi High School after running with Rin Matsuoka, a competitor from their youth who attends Samezuka Academy. Rei Ryugazaki is added to the team along with Makoto Tachibana and Nagisa Hazuki, two of his boyhood pals. As the team prepares for competitions, Haruka and Rin's rivalry worsens as Rin experiences difficulties in his development even though his desire to swim competitively grows. Iwatobi's swim team uses a medley relay in the prefectural competition to remind Rin of their friendship. The males' connections with one another develop despite being eliminated. In Free! Eternal Summer, Haruka, who is currently in his senior year of high school, is unsure about his plans for the future. Sosuke Yamazaki, a buddy from Rin's youth, enrolls at Samezuka Academy in the meantime. The two of them want to swim competitively, but Sosuke has a shoulder injury that Rin is unaware of. Haruka struggles at the regionals under the pressure of performing in front of scouts and loses direction in her career. He also finds out that Makoto Tachibana, his best buddy, is moving to Tokyo to attend university. Haruka avoids all social interaction. But with support from his friends and after seeing the International Aquatic Centre in Sydney, Australia, he makes the decision to pursue college swimming.
