12 Senshi Bakuretsu Eto Ranger
The Space-Time Transmitting Machine Kirinda is used by the Eto Rangers to restore the Novel Worlds of Mugen. The 12 Chinese zodiac animals that make up the Eto Rangers are anthropomorphic animals (and The Twelve Branches in Buddhism). They are referred to as "Eto creatures" in Japan. The Novel Worlds are narratives produced by human imagination, including both more recent literature and traditional folktales. These living worlds constantly play out and are required for the benefit of humanity. Mugen, an island continent dangling over an ocean from the lofty Novel Pole, is ruled by Princess Aura. She gains power from the Great God Goal, but she might never escape the confines of the tiny palace island. Their adversary is Nyanma (true name: Chocolat), the Forgotten Spirit of the Cats, who was disqualified from the race and so left out of the selection of the 12 defenders (in actual legend there are many versions of this story). By introducing Jyarei Monsters into Novel Worlds, she exacts revenge. When a Jyarei Monster visits a Novel World, they change the narrative, sometimes creating a parody of the original. Once enough hints point to the identity of the bad spirit, Bakumaru, the Spirit of the Mice, must utilize the disclosing mirror to identify it ("Jyarei Shouran!"). The Eto Rangers frequently have to act out parts of the story to figure out who or what it is, occasionally even assuming the role of one of the protagonists. Bakumaru yells out "Daikourin Kirinda!" after defeating the adversary while raising one of Aura's 12 gems in his hand. Kirinda, come in! "Jouka!" is yelled as Kirinda emerges from a spatial slit to use a beam weapon to expel the evil spirit (Purification).
