Katrielle Layton, the daughter of renowned archaeology professor Hershel Layton, runs the Layton Detective Agency, a company that assists its clients in solving strange riddles. Katrielle discovers herself solving cases involving a recently purchased cursed mansion, a dress laced with a "demon's curse," and the zombie of a client's departed spouse, to mention a few, with the help of her assistant Noah Montoir and talking dog Sherl. In addition to her odder cases, Katrielle has been focusing on the mystery surrounding the disappearance of her father. She didn't stop there in her quest to learn the truth about his disappearance. She also founded the agency. Katrielle gradually approaches the solution to the biggest mystery of her life as she takes on client after customer, each with wackier and stranger difficulties to solve.
