Transferring to a new school can be difficult—especially if you don't want to make any friends, like Nobuaki Kanazawa. But when his class receives a text from someone who goes by "The King," the cause of his antisocial behavior quickly becomes apparent. All students in the class are required to play the "King's Game," which has specific rules. Anyone who refuses to participate, leaves early, or disregards a command within the permitted 24-hour period will be subject to a fatal punishment. Nobuaki tries to warn his naive peers after playing the game before and watching as those close to him perished. Unfortunately, they don't start to trust him until after the first victims of the King's Game. Stuck in a horrific situation with no chance of escape, Nobuaki has a choice: put his own survival above those around him, or do what he couldn't before and save his classmates.
