High school student Mikoto Shinozaki lacks social awareness. In addition, he is an easy target for bullies because of his messy look and low self-esteem. Regardless, Yuki Fukuzawa, the most popular student in the class, thinks that Mikoto shares some of the blame for any bad things that happen to him. Assuming this, Yuki extends an invitation to Mikoto to join the school's bicycle club in the hopes that he can develop personally and make new friends. Mikoto has no excuse to reject Yuki's offer because of his emotions for her, save for the fact that he is unable to ride a bicycle. Mikoto is unable to get over the thought of himself riding a bicycle despite his lack of even the most basic skills. In the end, he gives in to his curiosity and enters the school's grounds unnoticed at night to practice. This marks the beginning of Mikoto's odyssey as he makes his way across the expansive cycling world, where the landscape of his life transforms in ways he never imagined imaginable.
