Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace
Yoshio Kobayashi, a middle school student, awakens in his classroom after what seems to be just another regular day to a horrifying discovery: his teacher has been mutilated, and Yoshio just so happens to be clutching the weapon used to conduct the murder. The observant and detached Yoshio is initially shocked to find himself in this situation, but he can't help but be secretly delighted by this attempt to frame him. Souji Hashiba, his beleaguered buddy, is made into a willing accomplice, and the two of them are resolved to establish Yoshio's innocence. A brilliant high school investigator named Kogorou Akechi has also arrived at the homicide scene to look into the case. When Kogorou encounters the accused youth, they develop a strong attraction for one another. Kobayashi wants to join Akechi's world of investigating crimes as his assistant, and Akechi is eager to discover if the eager young man is up to the task. Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace is a surreal mystery and horror anime partially based on novels written by Ranpo Edogawa, who is renowned for his effect on Japanese literature and features cruel and unusual crimes.
