The Three Musketeers

With the approval of his grandparents, the young D'Artagnan departs his Gascon town in 1625 for Paris, bearing only his father's sword and a letter of introduction. The penniless nobleman hopes to become a great hero in the service of King Louis XIII and is seeking an audience with Tréville, Captain of the Musketeers of the Guard and the comrade of his deceased father. The youthful explorer is both amazed and daunted by Paris' enormous size. He meets a little orphan named Jean as he walks the city streets. He nevertheless also offends Porthos, Aramis, and Athos, three Musketeers of the Guard. D'Artagnan and the Musketeers repel five of Cardinal Richelieu's soldiers after being confronted by the Parisian guards about their unlawful dueling, and the four of them rapidly become friends. In addition to defending the reputation of Queen Anne d'Autriche, the wife of Louis XIII, the four new allies set out to prevent the Cardinal from sparking a war between England and France. But how much would their labor cost?
