Wangan Midnight
The story is based on the genuine street racing that takes place on Tokyo's Shuto Expressway, the longest and straightest road in the nation. One section of this expressway is known as the "Wangan," which literally translates to "bay side" (although it is typically used to refer to the highway). Of course, there is a lot of traffic to deal with as well, including quite a few huge trucks. As a result, the action is inherently risky, and accidents frequently occur. Additionally, blown engines are a common risk, particularly with the really powerful engines. One day, Tatsuya Shima, a doctor, challenges Akio Asakura, a third-year high school student, when he is driving his black Porsche 964 Turbo Fairlady Z (Z31) (nicknamed the "BlackBird"). Akio pitifully attempts to win with two girls in the back and a friend in the passenger seat but fails. He visits the junkyard to get parts for his car with the intention of becoming faster when he notices a spotless, unscratched midnight blue Fairlady Z (S30) there. He purchases it out of curiosity as to why such a contraption is ready to be discarded. He quickly discovers that the car is incredibly quick thanks to a tuned L28 engine that has been bored and stroked to 3.1 liters and is coupled with twin turbos to create 620bhp. He also discovers that the car's former owners, beginning with the one who died, have experienced tragic mishaps in it. The comic chronicles Akio's varied meetings, but its main conflict is on his ongoing struggle with the BlackBird for dominance.
