Golden Kamuy
Veteran of the Battle of 203 Hill Saichi Sugimoto supports the widow of his deceased comrade by working as a panner in Hokkaido. A drunken elderly man approaches Sugimoto and tells him a questionable legend about gold that can only be found by tracing a map of tattoos on a group of prisoners who escaped from Abashiri Prison. The following morning, after dismissing the incident as a fantastic tale, Sugimoto awakens to find the elderly man apologizing and brandishing a revolver at him. Sugimoto overpowers the elderly guy and chases him into the woods where he discovers him dismembered by a bear and covered in a massive map tattoo on his chest, back, and shoulders. Asirpa, a young Ainu girl who was saved from the bear by Sugimoto, is uninterested in the gold and wants revenge for her father, one of the deceived Ainu miners, while Sugimoto understands the story is true and advises they reclaim the Ainu treasure together.
